Alfredo Sauce Recipe
Last Updated on August 28, 2023 by TheFarmChicken
Alfredo Sauce a lighter sauce without compromising flavor and texture.
Smooth and delicious, this alfredo sauce recipe is perfect with a green vegetable or salad and a piece of buttered toast (maybe even sourdough?). Do you like Alfredo Sauce?
With all this talk about noodles I’m going to share this recipe for a noodle dish. Alfredo Sauce is a favorite around here and one of my easy go-to meals. You can add cooked chicken to it, but really my family is just as happy without the chicken (truly the way my husband prefers).
How about you? Do you make Alfredo Sauce at home, or do you buy the jar in the store? Would you accept the challenge to make it from scratch?? So much better… and probably cheaper.
This recipe originally called for cream but we decided to just use milk and really it is still creamy and delicious with anywhere from 69-75 grams less fat by just using milk. We have used 2% milk before but now with little ones in the house we do use whole milk.
Below I have a comparison to show you the difference between using cream/2% milk, whole milk, or 2% milk.
Great Value Brand Milk Product | Total Fat | Saturated Fat | Protein | Carbohydrates | Calories |
1 Cup Cream/1 Cup 2% milk | 85g | 51g | 8g | 12g | 930 |
2 Cups Whole Milk | 16g | 9g | 16g | 22g | 320 |
2 Cups 2% Milk | 10g | 6g | 16g | 24g | 260 |
You can see by the table above that there is a huge difference in fat and calories by just using milk in this recipe! A bigger difference than I expected!
Remember saturated fat is okay in moderation but most people in America get plenty. Recipes that cut back in this area can be helpful with having a balanced and healthy eating. I use the word eating because our culture has ruined the word diet.
Let’s look at the Alfredo Sauce Recipe now! I will write it here to be made with milk and it is quite delightful!
